HOSTED AND ORGANIZED BY:

CONFERENCE MISSION

HYDRO 2006 was the 13th international conference and exhibition to be organized by Hydropower & Dams with NetWork Events. These annual events, planned and implemented in collaboration with the national powerauthority of the host country, and an international steering committee of eminent experts, bring together owners and operators, consultants, environmental specialists, economists, financiers and equipment suppliers at a practical forum, to further the development ofworld hydropower on the basis of best practice and state-of-the-art technology.
Emphasis is placed on promoting and assisting the implementation of new hydro capacityin less developed countries, where 70 per cent of the world’s remaining hydro potential isavailable, and where water and energy schemes are most urgently needed. The conference hosts encourage and facilitate the participation of owners and operators from the less developed countries, and this policy has led to a high level of attendance in recent years from African and Asian utilities.
Equally important is the need to maximize the benefits of existing hydro plants worldwide -the main theme of HYDRO 2006 - and this includes getting the most out of existing assetsby adopting new decision-making tools and O&M procedures, as well as taking fulladvantage of the multiple benefits of hydro, and implementing timely upgrading. In the current more positive climate for hydropower development, our annual conferencesbring together experts from all the associated engineering disciplines to address thesepractical issues.
