An above ground powerhouse 3D design tool for vertical Francis units

The process for identifying the most suitable powerhouse configuration is time consuming and often offers limited flexibility when multiple options are to be considered. To address this, a new design tool called HydroSPACE, which uses a parametric approach, has been developed. This paper presents the characteristics for this new system and two case study applications that address the validation of the tool by presenting a comparison with an existing plant during the tool development process for benchmarking purposes, and a feasibility study conducted for a client in Asia.
