Climate change impacts on power production at Yeywa, Myanmar

Myanmar is one of the countries most vulnerable to climate change in Asia and the Pacific in terms of the indicator values of exposure, such as change in temperature and precipitation, and adaptive capacity, such as poverty [ADB, 20091]. One of the most important concerns related to impact of climate change on streamflow in Myanmar is the implication for hydropower generation. The country relies heavily on renewable energy, and the hydropower sector is responsible for more than 55 per cent of Myanmar’s electric power generation. Therefore, the impacts of climate change upon the streamflow including magnitude, timing and range of uncertainty are important research areas for Myanmar.
