Ecological flow: minimizing energy loss at EDP’s hydropower plants

Legal obligations and the sustainability strategy of EDP prescribe the releasing of ecological flows, Eflow, downstream of dams. This paper describes the methodology adopted to select and prioritize the use of the hydroelectric potential of Eflow at EDP’s dams, including the factors and criteria considered in these feasibility and conceptual studies. It also refers to the procedure followed to establish the preliminary technical features of the projects to estimate their energy generation and capex.
