How video enhancement technology can contribute to flood management

As a result of climate change, the frequency and severity of rainfall and flood events have intensified worldwide. This paper focuses on flood prevention based on video enhancement techniques. The experimental results suggest that video enhancement technology is a reliable method for flood prevention in diverse environments. The flood prevention and alarm system of South Korea and Japan are reviewed and an efficient system to monitor the water level of rivers and dams is proposed. The performance of the proposed flood alarm system (FAS) has been confirmed.
