Lessons learnt from recent large RCC dam projects in Southeast Asia

Southeast Asia and China have together been the powerhouse of RCC dam development over the past decade or so. Nine of the ten largest RCC dams in the world, and five of the ten highest, are in Southeast Asia and China. This paper looks at five large RCC dam (three of which are in the top ten largest dams) with a view to determining lessons that can be learnt from the construction of these dams. It is only by learning from the last generation of RCC dams that the next generation can be made even more efficient.
