Maximizing finance for development: World Bank Group involvement in Nachtigal, Cameroon

The hydropower landscape in Cameroon has changed considerably since 1998, when the Government of Cameroon (GoC) initiated reforms in the energy sector and the World Bank Group (WBG)* started its engagement. Today, 21 years later, the WBG still contributes to transforming Cameroon’s electricity supply to match its needs, by harmonizing and synchronizing institutional mechanisms to galvanize momentum for the implementation of transformational projects such as the Nachtigal hydropower project, which is the focus of this paper.
