Refurbishment and model testing of turbine governing systems at three hydro schemes in Bulgaria

The Kriva reka river cascade in Bulgaria includes the Belmeken pumped-storage plant and the Sestrimo and Momina Kisura hydro stations. The powerplants are built on the northeast slope of Rila mountain, with a combined installed capacity of 739 MW, and a total head of 1556 m This paper reports on the design of the turbine governor system and relevant subsystems, as well as the plant emulation platform for verification during factory testing.
