The multipurpose use of hydro plants in the Far East of Russia

RusHydro operates more than 50 hydropower facilities with a total installed capacity of 24.7 GW. The plants are located throughout the country and have a high social, economic and infrastructural value. Implementing the national hydropower policy is an important objective of RusHydro as set out in its Charter. The disastrous flood of 2013 in the Amur river region required a revision of the plans for developing the hydropower sector to reduce flooding. The new measures being introduced are described here.
