The role of a hydro reservoir system in flood control: the Vu Gia-Thu Bon catchment, Vietnam

With a view to limiting damage in an area of Central Vietnam prone to frequent flooding, studies have been carried out to optimize the operating regime of a series of hydro reservoirs in the Vu Gia Thu Bon catchment area. Model studies carried out, using the Danish MIKE 11 software, are described here, as well as the new flood mitigation strategies which have now been proposed.
