Aqua~Media International Ltd is the publisher of The International Journal on Hydropower and Dams, and the organizer of the HYDRO, ASIA and AFRICA event series.
A full social and cultural programme will give delegates and accompanying persons a chance to sample the best of French cuisine and to relax in an informal atmosphere with friends from the international hydro community.
An excursion will take place before the conference, beginning mid-morning and including lunch.
Attendees will meet at the conference venue and travel to the city centre, where they will take a boat tour of Strasbourg and Petite France. Lunch will be taken at a local restaurant, followed by a visit to Saint Thomas Church for an organ concert. The tour will return to the conference centre in mid-afternoon.
After meetings and briefings about arrangements for the conference, those chairing or co-chairing sessions, and speakers presenting accepted papers will be welcomed to a reception. The event is an opportunity for all session participants to get together ahead of the sessions.
This opening reception for all participants will take place in the Etoile Suite at the Palais des Congrès, a large space appropriate for socializing while also social distancing. A light dinner, featuring local specialities, will be served, and the evening will be an opportunity to catch up with friends and make new contacts.
Refreshments and snacks will be served in the exhibition halls, which will remain open for two hours after the sessions, on the second day of the conference. This a great way for delegates to meet exhibitors they may have missed during the coffee breaks and lunches, for extended discussions. Exhibitors are invited to prepare special demonstrations of equipment, or to welcome key groups of delegates to their stand for drinks.
The Farewell Dinner is provisionally planned to take place at Le Dôme du Mutzig , just outside Strasbourg (transport will be provided for the short journey). This will feature an impressive banquet of local cuisine and wines, accompanied by music and entertainment. This will provide a memorable and relaxing end to three days of work and discussion.
