Asia-Pacific leads pumped-storage renaissance

The construction of new pumped-storage capacity is currently largely concentrated in the Asia-Pacific region, most notably China. However, as Hydropower and Dams News Editor, Martin Burdett, reports, prospects for new development elsewhere, especially in Europe, look brighter, as policymakers appear to be slowly recognizing the critical role that long-duration storage technologies such as pumped-storage will play in the delivery of the smart and flexible energy systems that countries will require to achieve their climate change targets.
