Consultancy services sought for modernization of Nkula B spillway and intake in Malawi

Electricity Generation Company (EGENCO), Malawi's state power producer, invites Request for Proposals (RfPs) by 28 July from experienced and registered consulting firms for the rehabilitation and modernisation of the spillway and intake equipment of the 100 MW Nkula B hydropower plant on the river Shire in southern Malawi.

The run-of-river facility, which is equipped with five 20 MW units, was built in stages in the 1980s and the 1990s. The first three units were installed in 1980. Another 20 MW unit was added in 1986 and the fifth 20 MW unit was installed in 1992.

Interested consulting firms may obtain RFP documents upon proof of payment of a non-refundable fee of MK 25,000 or its equivalent in the form of a direct deposit to the account of Electricity Generation Company of Malawi Limited (EGENCO); Account Number: 01003249146 held at the National Bank of Malawi Limited, P.O. Prospective consultants are expected to bring proof of payment to the cashiers’ office for the issuance of a receipt and collection of the RFP document.

The bid must be delivered to and registered with the Procurement Department of EGENCO, Chayamba Building, Floor Number 4, P.O. Box 1567, Blantyre at or before 14.00 hours local time on 28 July. Electronic submission will not be permitted.
