Kaplan-type turbine units sought for small hydro schemes in the French Alps

Hydrostadium, the hydropower engineering arm of EDF, invites bids by 27 November for the supply, installation and commissioning of two new generating units to replace the two existing Kaplan turbine groups at the 800 kW Arthaz hydropower plant on the river Arve in the département of Haute-Savoie in the Alps in eastern France, and associated adaptation work.

The scope of contract includes: (i) Two Kaplan type turbine groups with single adjustment or double adjustment (directing + adjustable blades) for a gross head of 4.6 m and nominal flow of 16 m3/s;

(ii) Two permanent magnet alternators; (iii) Two roller gate type guard valves and (iv) Two oil-hydraulic groups. Services include general studies; execution and sizing studies of equipment; integration study into the existing powerhouse; site installation; installation of equipment (excluding civil work) and commissioning of equipment supplied on the Arthaz site, and training of EDF staff
