Tender relaunched for extension of Lungudi plant in DRC

The Project Coordination and Management Unit (UCM) of the Ministry of Hydraulic Resources and Electricity of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), acting as the project execution unit on behalf of the state power utility Electricité Du Congo (EDC), has relaunched an international open tender for the extension of the Lungudi hydropower plant in Tshikapa in the southwestern province of Kasai.

Sealed bids are sought by 30 September for the design, supply and installation of all equipment necessary for the expansion of the existing 1.5 MW plant, by 4 MW. A first tender was issued in the summer of 2020. The Lungudi 2 project is be financed by the African Development Bank group under the framework of the “Projet d’Appui à la Gouvernance et à d’Amélioration du Secteur Electrique en RDC (PAGASE) (Governance Improvement and Access to Electricity Sector Project). The contracted works are expected to take up to 17 months from contract signing.
