Chenab Valley Power Projects Private Ltd tenders hydro-mechanical works for 540 MW Kwar, Indi

Chenab Valley Power Projects Private Limited (CVPPL), a joint venture between India’s state power producer NHPC and Jammu and Kashmir State Power Development Corporation (JKSPDC), the state power utility serving Jammu and Kashmir, invites online electronic bids on an international competitive bidding basis by 13 October 2023 from qualified contractors for the hydro-mechanical works package of the 540 MW Kwar hydropower project in the northern Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir.

The contract, with an estimated total cost of INR 3.194 billion (US$ 38.46 million), covers the design, procurement, manufacture, inspection, shop assembly, testing, painting, transport, site storage and site erection, testing and commissioning of radial gates, vertical gates, stoplogs, gantry cranes, trashracks, trashrack cleaning machine, and steel liner for pressure shafts, according to a tender notice published on 30 August. The contracted work is to be completed within 36 months.

The run-of-river project on the river Chenab, in Kishtwar district, will comprise a 109 m-high concrete gravity dam, with water to be diverted through four 5.65 m-diameter penstocks to an underground powerhouse, with four Francis turbine-generator units, with capacity of 135 MW each.

CVPP was established in June 2011 by the government of Jammu and Kashmir and by the central government to harness the hydropower potential of the Chenab river basin. It has been entrusted to date with the development on a Build, Own, Operate and Maintain (BOOM) basis of four projects with an aggregate installed capacity of 3094 MW, and comprising in addition to Kwar of the 1000 MW Pakal Dul, 624 MW Kiru and  930 MW Kirthai-II hydroelectric projects.

A pre-bid meeting is to be held at 11.00 hours local time on 14 September at the Conference Hall, CVPPL, Chenab Jal Shakti Bhawan, opposite Saraswati Dham, Rail Head Complex, Jammu and Kashmir. This can be attended in person or through a Zoom application for which prospective bidders may request Zoom ID and a password by email to cont.proc@cvppindia.com.

Submission of on-line techno-commercial bids and price bids will begin on 3 October with last bids due by 13 October. Hard copies as well as a non-refundable tender fee of INR 11 800 and other offline supporting documents should be submitted to the below-mentioned address by 16 October. E-reverse bidding will be carried out at https://www.mstcecommerce.com/eprochome/cvpppl/. The date for e-reverse bidding will be communicated later to techno-commercial bidders.
