Compaction temperature and impermeability of asphalt core dams

La Romaine-2 hydropower project, under construction in Canada, consists of five dykes and a main dam, all designed with asphalt cores. Construction works were scheduled from July 2011 to December 2013. However, as a result of a highly successful construction process, Phase 2 is likely to be completed three months early, by September 2013, saving Hydro-Québec considerable cost and enabling earlier energy generation than expected.
