Conversion from oil-to-water lubrication improves efficiency at Monroe, USA

In recent years, operation of the three 7.8 MW turbines at the Monroe plant, owned by the Loup River Power District in Nebraska, USA, was being adversely affected by repeated problems with the shaft seals and oil-lubricated guide bearings. These issues were causing excessive maintenance costs and frequent costly downtime of the turbines. Wärtsilä Seals & Bearings and the Loup River Power District worked together to overcome these problems.
