The 155 m-high Santa María dam project, completed in December 2023 on the Pacific north coast of Mexico, serves for irrigation, water supply and 31.6 MW of hydropower. An innovative design solution adopted for the plinth and cutoff wall, described here, saved construction time and offered a number of technical advantages.
