GHG emissions and sequestration measurements at hydro plants in Patagonia, Argentina

For the two major hydro projects currently under development on the Santa Cruz river in southern Argentina, the environmental impact assessment highlighted the need for further study of issues relating to greenhouse gas emissions from the reservoirs. A measurement and monitoring research programme is described here, which is beginning ahead of the main construction works, so that the situation before and after implementation of the projects can be compared.
