Hydro powerhouse drainage and dewatering systems

The drainage and watering system is the least considered part of the powerhouse when compared with the amount of attention given to the civil works and other electro-mechanical equipment. However, this is an oversight, as proper design of the drainage and dewatering system could mean the difference between a powerhouse in danger of flooding and one in which the water ingress is controlled such that important electro-mechanical equipment is not in danger of disruptive and expensive damage caused by inundation. In addition, a properly designed drainage system will save the client from possible litigation resulting from the inadvertent discharge of pollutants from the drainage system into pristine water ways.
