Innovative features of the Lovosice low head mini hydro plant

The 2.65 MW Lovosice small hydro plant on the Labe river, Czech Republic, was commissioned last year. It is the first ‘greenfield’ ultra-low head small scheme of more than 2 MW to have been built in the country in the last 20 years. The author outlines design features and challenges of constructing the plant, which will be visited on Study Tour A after HYDRO 2011 conference in Prague.
