Lesotho Highlands Water Project Phase II: milestones and innovation

Bringing large-scale infrastructure projects to fruition involves balancing the intricacies of delivering complex components on time and within budget, with the softer skills of diplomacy, communication, social responsibility and environmental stewardship. All the while, project leaders must navigate the diverse interests and expectations of multiple stakeholders, ensuring communities are safeguarded and voices are heard in the pursuit of progress. This is the reality of the Lesotho Highlands Water Project (LHWP). As construction activities for Phase II of the LHWP build momentum, this paper provides a project update of recent achievements and highlights the major milestones expected in 2025.
