Optimization tools for the operation of Italian hydro plants in a market context

To maximize the revenues from hydro plants in a market context, it is necessary to schedule operational constraints correctly and to manage unplanned events in real time operation. This paper presents the main features of specific optimization tools for three important tasks, while also allowing the user to manage unplanned events including faults, unforeseen water flows, and balancing energy activations, in an optimally economic manner.
