President Biden leads a new era of research and investment in US hydropower

As part of President Biden’s aim to achieve 100 per cent clean electricity by 2035, and net zero emissions by 2050, his administration in the past three months has announced major investments in maintaining and upgrading conventional hydropower and pumped-storage schemes, as well as exploiting more of the country’s hydro and marine energy potential. This article highlights a few of the research initiatives underway in the USA which are paving the way for a renaissance of hydropower development.
