Small pumped-storage plants and their role in the Czech grid

As more wind and solar PV schemes come on line in the Czech Republic, as in other parts of Europe, problems of grid stability intensify. The authors describe recent research to explore the possible role of small-scale pumped-storage schemes, which could be built with minimal environmental impact, to provide support for intermittent RE schemes.
