Upgrading of bearings plays a key role at Itauba, Brazil

The operating regime at the Itauba powerplant in Brazil led to wear in the turbine distributor system, which in turn led to wear of the guidevane bearings and other components. In the refurbishment scheme, self-lubricating bearings with a bimetallic structure were adopted, with various solutions being applied in different parts of the distributor mechanism.
