HYDRO 2019 will take place in the Alfândega (Old Customs House) conference centre, a building full of history and character, beside the Douro river. It is close to the historical centre of town, and to numerous hotels in all categories, where rooms will be blocked for delegates.

Read moreThe HYDRO 2019 Technical Exhibition will showcase more than 180 companies active in the fields of hydropower and dam engineering. All refreshment breaks will take place in the exhibition area, and a Networking Evening will take place on Tuesday 15 October, with late opening of the Exhibition to give all attendees an additional chance to visit companies and forge new business links in an informal setting.
HYDRO 2019 will be the 26th in our annual series of hydro conferences, and the third to take place in Portugal, following HYDRO 2004 in Porto, and HYDRO 2010 in Lisbon. Portugal is an ideal European host country for the global hydropower community, with a wealth of experience and expertise to share, in all forms of hydropower, from large-scale pumped-storage plants to large and small run-over-river installations. The country has about 7200 MW of installed hydro capacity, and typically hydro contributes more than 15 000 GWh/year of electricity.
