Bologna city tour

A local sightseeing tour will be available for all participants arriving by the morning of 13 October 2026, and places can be booked when registering for the conference.

To provide all international participants with an opportunity to discover the rich history and unique character of Bologna, we have once again organized a city excursion, taking place on Tuesday, 13 October.

A private bus transfer will take participants from the Bologna Congress Centre to the city centre for a guided walking tour. During the excursion, participants will explore some of Bologna’s most iconic landmarks and historic squares, including:

  • Piazza del Nettuno and the Neptune Fountain
  • Biblioteca Salaborsa
  • Piazza Maggiore
  • Basilica di San Petronio
  • The Archiginnasio Courtyard
  • Via Farini
  • Piazza Minghetti
  • Piazza Santo Stefano
  • Piazza della Mercanzia
  • The Two Towers (Due Torri)

Following the guided tour, participants will enjoy a traditional three-course lunch at a local restaurant.

After lunch, at approximately 15:00, the private bus transfer will depart back to Bologna Congress Centre.

Participants may also choose to join an optional visit to the Municipal Art Collections and the Clock Tower. Enjoy panoramic views of Bologna from above and discover Palazzo d’Accursio with a smartphone audio guide before climbing the steps to the Clock Tower for breathtaking views of the city from its two terraces. The visit takes you through courtyards and staircases, from the splendid Sala Farnese to the heart of the tower, the mechanism that makes the clock work.  Participants will also have access to the Municipal Art Collections, home to an exceptional collection of paintings, objets d’art, furniture, porcelain and textiles, some dating back to the Middle Ages.
