Bhutan to seek sustainable hydropower development services

Druk Green Power Corporation (DGPC), Bhutan's hydropower plant operator and developer, has issued a general procurement notice for services related to a sustainable hydropower development project.

The project will include the following two components: Component 1 – Preparation of Hydropower Plant and Transmission Lines Projects; and, Component 2 – Capacity Building for the Sustainable Development of Hydropower. Component 1 will comprise (i) Technical advisory service for update of the detailed project report (DPR) of the Dorjilung hydropower project; (ii) Geotechnical investigations; (iii) Dam safety project review panel (individual consultants) for dam and hydraulic structure, engineering geology, seismic and hydrology; (iv) Environmental and social impact assessment; (v) Environmental and social impact assessment project review panel (individual consultants); (vi) Purchase of software and hardware. The contracted works will be financed by the World Bank, which has provided financing in the amount of US$ 4 million equivalent to Druk Green Power Corporation through the state Department of Hydropower and Power System.

Specific procurement notices for contracts subject to open international competitive procurement will be announced, as they become available, in UN Development Business online, on the World Bank’s external website, DGPC’s website and national newspapers.
