Indian renewable energy developer Greenko invites sealed bids by 21 January for the execution on an EPC basis of the main civil and hydro-mechanical works of the 1440 MW Gandhi Sagar pumped-storage project in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh.
Implementation of the project has been envisaged through a design-build approach in which the project will be executed through an EPC contract on a firm and fixed price basis with a completion time guarantee.
The scope of the contract will cover the design, manufacture, construction, testing and commissioning of all components of the project including: an asphalt-faced rockfill embankment dam with a height of between 10 and 35 m to impound the upper reservoir; a surface powerhouse to be equipped with five fixed speed reversible Francis turbines each 240 MW operating under a rated head of 121.25 m in generation mode and 127.15 m in pumping mode, and two 120 MW fixed speed Francis turbines; the intake structure comprising six 430 m-long and 7.5 m-diameter penstocks, five 122 m-long and two 131 m-long tailrace tunnels, cofferdam and temporary dyke for construction of tail pool and outlet structure; and, hydro-mechanical works and equipment (including gates, stoplogs, hoisting arrangements, trash racks, valves and accessories).
The selected EPC contractor will also be required to provide complete detailed engineering for all civil works and hydro-mechanical works covering detailed designs, construction drawings, and specification for all components inclusive of modifications/revisions of drawings to suit site conditions or specific requirements, as well as a review of the interface with the electro-mechanical design.
