Electrical and hydro-mechanical equipment sought for Harpo in Pakistan

Pakistan's Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) invites pre-qualification applications by 15 September for the execution of the electrical and hydro-mechanical equipment works for the Harpo hydropower project in the northern autonomous territory of Gilgit-Baltistan.

The 34.5 MW diversion project is to be built on the Harpo Nullah, a left tributary of the river Indus, about 75 km northwest of Skardu District. Funding for the project is being provided by the German development bank Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau and France’s Agence Française de Développement.

The scope of works comprises six components:

(i) Procurement , design, manufacture, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of two vertical shaft hydropower generating units of 17.25 MW each, and consisting of a Pelton-type hydraulic turbine with digital and hydraulic governor, a spherical type main inlet valve, a 3-phase synchronous type hydro generator, a 11kV/132kV main / unit step-up transformer, and all pertinent electrical and mechanical auxiliary equipment components and systems;

(ii) Procurement /design, manufacture, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of one powerhouse main overhead crane with main and auxiliary hook of 50 t/5 t lifting capacity;

(iii) Procurement/design, manufacture, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of common auxiliary mechanical equipment systems;

(iv) Procurement / design, manufacture, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of one powerhouse elevator;

(v) Procurement/design, manufacture, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of GIS-type generator voltage switchgear equipment of 132kV rating; and,

(vi) Procurement/design, manufacture, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of common auxiliary electrical equipment systems.
