EPS seeks supervision of rehabilitation works of Vlasinske hydropower cascade

Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS), Serbia's state power producer, has issued a request for proposals (RFP) for supervision of the reconstruction of the 129 MW Vlasinske hydropower cascade to extend its operational lifetime and performance. Bids from eligible consultants are invited by 11 June.

The rehabilitation works, which will take four years and cost an estimated EUR 82.4 million, will involve the replacement of the electro-mechanical equipment of all four plants that comprise the cascade in the lower stretches of the Vrla river in southeastern Serbia.

The modernization of the Vrla 1-4 plants is expected to increase installed capacity by 8 MW and annual production from 300 to 310 GWh. The works will be financed from the proceeds of a EUR 67 million loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and a grant of EUR 15.4 million from the Western Balkans Investment Framework (WBIF). The loan and grant financing will be administered by the EBRD.

Procurement of works shall be conducted according to the EBRD Procurement Policies and Rules, and contract conditions will be based upon the “Conditions of Contract for Plant and Design – Build” (FIDIC, Yellow Book), Edition 1999, according to the procurement notice.
