First pump turbine at Nant de France connected to grid

In early August, the first pump turbine at the Nant de Drance scheme in Switzerland was connected to the grid.

The Nant de France powerplant has been undergoing testing since March, and the recent grid connection test went smoothly and proved to be a success, marking a major milestone in this phase of the project.

The 900 MW scheme, with six turbine generating units, is expected to be fully operational by the end of 2021. Construction work began on the project in September 2008, and has including modifying the existing dam and adding additional generation capacity.
