KenGen seeks turbine shaft seal for Kiambere

Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KenGen), Kenya's state power producer, invites sealed bids by 15 June for the redesign, manufacture, installation, testing and commissioning of a turbine shaft seal for the 168 MW Kiambere hydropower station.

Kiambere, KenGen’s second largest hydropower plant, straddles the border of Embu and Kitui Counties in central Kenya, and comprises two 84 MW Francis turbine-generators. The plant, part of the Seven Forks Cascade, was commissioned in 1988 and utilizes water from the river Tana, which flows from an intake on the Kiambere saddle dam through a 4060 m-long headrace tunnel to the underground power station.

There shall be a mandatory site visit at 10.00 am on 2 June at Gitaru and Kiambere power stations.

Tendering will be conducted under open international standards using a standardized tender document. Tendering is open to all qualified and interested tenderers. Tender documents may be viewed and downloaded for free from the website (www.kengen.co.ke) and/or on
