Penstocks sought for small hydro scheme in DRC

Virunga Power, a US based, Kenya registered rural utility developer, invites bids by 17 October for the supply of two 627 m-long penstocks for the Luviro hydropower project in Ivingu, in the province of Nord-Kivu, Democratic Republic of Congo.

The Luviro scheme is being developed within the framework of a rural electrification project in the territory of Lubero. Separate contracts will be tendered for construction of civil works, including a water intake, a head pond and a powerhouse to be equipped with two Pelton turbines as well as a 33 kV and 400 V distribution network.

Tendering for this contract is open to individual contractors or a consortium of bidders registered in one of the ACP countries, one of the EU member states or in a country authorized under the agreement by the ACP-EU partnership, which is financing the contract. All equipment supplied for this contract must be sourced from one of these countries and be covered by a certificate of origin.

Bidders must supply a bid guarantee of €3000 at the time of the submission of bids. The winning bidder will be required to provide a performance guarantee equivalent to 10 per cent of the value of the signed contract within 30 days of receiving the signed contract from the tenderer.
