SJVN seeks debt financing for Dhaulasidh, Himachal Pradesh

SJVN invites expressions of interest, by 31 January, for the debt financing of the 66 MW Dhaulasidh hydro plant. SJVN seeks a commercial loan for a period of 17 years, including a five-year moratorium, of INR 5.33 billion (US$ 72.55 million), which is equivalent to 80 per cent of the total project cost of INR 6.663 million (US$ 90.7 million). Equity financing equivalent to 20 per cent of the total cost is to be carried by SJVN. The project is expected to generate a return on equity of 16.5 per cent.

The planned run-of-the river scheme on the Beas river, near the village of Sanotu in Hamirpur district of Himachal Pradesh, is designed to include a 50 m-high concrete gravity dam, with a powerhouse to be equipped with two 33 MW vertical shaft Francis units at the toe of the dam. It is expected to generate 304 GWh/year under a gross head of 46.37 m, based on water availability.

This project is scheduled to be completed within 54 months (including pre-construction works) from the date of investment approval. The major works have been divided in three packages: Civil, Hydro Mechanical and Electro Mechanical, which will be awarded after investment approval has been granted by the Ministry of Power. Investment approval was given in October 2020.
