Procurement method, design and construction of Ethiopia’s 1870 MW Gibe III scheme

An original procurement method, involving the Government and a strategic private partner, was used for the preparation and execution of the construction contract for the Gibe III scheme in Ethiopia, involving a fast track approach. The consequences of the new approach, involving early contractor involvement, on the evolution of the main design features of the project, and on construction progress, are described here
