The hydropower plant comprises four 125 MW Francis turbine generating units, of which the first three were commissioned in 1974, and the fourth unit in 1995. The Sirikit hydropower dam, formerly known as Pha Som dam, was constructed to exploit the agricultural and hydro potential of the Chao Phraya basin. The 113.6 m-high clay core embankment dam, which is the largest earthfill dam in Thailand, was commissioned in 1972.
Bids are invited from individual companies, joint ventures or consortia for the design, manufacture, fabrication, shop tests, supply, delivery to site and unloading, insurance from point of origin to site, as well as supervision of installation, testing, commissioning, on-site training and guarantee of the equipment for the project, according to a tender notice published on EGAT’s website on 6 January. The project, valued at THB 1.33 billion (US$ 42.5 million), is to be wholly funded by EGAT.
Interested single bidders or joint ventures are required to obtain a License to Practice the Controlled Engineering Profession issued by the Council of Engineers of Thailand. In the case of a consortium, only the member responsible for the design or construction supervision work needs to obtain a license.
Bid documents for ‘Invitation for Bid No. EGAT 12/2566-SK4’ are available from EGAT up to 6 February upon payment of a non-refundable fee of $500 or THB 15 000.
