Berg River scheme meets technical and logistical challenges

The major Berg River scheme, which will supply 81 x 106m3 of water to the Western Cape water system in South Africa, won a number of awards for its innovative engineering and environmental management aspects. Despite a challenging schedule, the project was complete on time. This paper describes the main features of the scheme and the challenges associated with implementation.
