Challenges in the design of the upper reservoir for the Kaniv pumped-storage scheme, Ukraine

The International Conference on Climate Change in Paris in 2015 considerably changed the direction of development of the world’s energy sector. The Paris Agreement requires the international community to take decisive and consolidated measures to counter global warming. Clearly hydropower, wind and solar energy, as well as other sources of renewable energy with low levels of greenhouse gas emissions, will play an important role in this task. Decarbonization of the power industry is gaining more influence from the point of view of limiting climate change, influencing the formation of a balance of energy generating capacities.
