Change of design simplifies construction of Beydag dam

The 93 m-high Beyda˘g dam in Turkey was originally designed as an earthfill structure with a central clay core. However, after detailed economic and technical studies, a number of factors led to the choice of an RCC dam. This paper discusses the factors which led to the revised design, and the main features of the scheme.
