Construction of the Jatigede dam project in Java, Indonesia

The multipurpose Jatigede dam will contain with a capacity of reservoir of 1.1 x 109 m3. Financed by a Chinese loan, the scheme is being constructed by Sinohydro along with the Consortium of Indonesian Contractors. The main problem experienced during the construction period is the occurrence of landslides. The challenges this presents are discussed along with a bore pile countermeasure system.
