Future development of hydropower in Paraguay

Paraguay has three hydroelectric powerplants which meet 100 per cent of its electricity requirements, and coverage is more than 99.92 per cent. The country’s demand will be met by current generation until 2033, after which it will be necessary increase its generation capacity, and hydropower development is considered to be the optimum way to achieve this. This paper details the current plants in operation and outlines future capacity expansion plans.
