Gibe III will double Ethiopia’s installed capacity by 2013

Ethiopia’s economy is continuously growing. The Universal Electricity Access Program has been launched, with the main objective of enhancing access to electricity throughout the country, along with the construction of transmission lines to towns and villages. This has considerably increased the demand for electricity. Demand will be further increased as a result of the planned five-year Growth and Transformation Plan (GTP), which is being implemented from the current Fiscal Year 2010/11.
