Hydraulic design of the low level outlets for Dasu dam, Pakistan

The feasibility of the Dasu hydropower project in Lahore, Pakistan is described. The project site is characterised by a narrow river gorge which limits the space available for construction of the spillway in the body of the dam. This research shows that during the flushing of sediments, flow velocities are expected to be moderate while in high head conditions velocities in excess of 45 m/s are envisaged. Recommendations for the use of low level outlets under these conditions are reported.
