Hydraulic modelling for dams in the Czech Republic

In recent years, work has been underway to re-assess the safety of dams in the Czech Republic, particularly in relation to extreme flood discharges (the 10 000 year flood). Dam owners and operators are looking at ways to increase the flood discharge capacity at existing dams at which the spillways were not originally designed for today’s safety standards. This paper focuses on physical modelling relating to enhancing dam safety by increasing the capacity of flood discharge works.
