Improving safety with non-invasive ultrasonic flow measurement at the Leitzachwerk scheme, Germany

Within the framework of an upgrading project for the measuring and control systems at the Stadtwerke Munich’s Leitzachwerke hydroelectric scheme, clamp-on ultrasonic measurement equipment was installed on the 4 m-diameter penstock. This paper describes the technologies used and presents solutions to overcome challenges in implementation.
