Innovative technique for strengthening old buttress dams and multi-arch dams

A new method is presented for the reconstruction and strengthening of old buttress dams, where the old dam is used as formwork to construct the new dam. The technique, patented in Norway, has proven to be cost-effective in cases where construction of a new dam is the only option. The solution can also be applied at a full reservoir level.
