Kaplan turbines are the fundamental technology for low-head, high-flow hydropower generation, valued for their efficiency and adaptability across a range of operational conditions. Retrofitting and modernizing existing Kaplan turbine installations can significantly enhance performance and extend service life, making cost-effective refurbishment strategies highly relevant for both manufacturers and operators. This study focuses on such a case.
